Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new accessories. They can also improve its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases like eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade an item of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the element or material required to make that happen.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can only be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." Rerolling
